Veterans and Defence Personnel
Military service can involve experiences and challenges that are difficult for others to fully understand. Whether you are currently serving, transitioning out of the military, a veteran, or a family member of someone who has served, seeking support can be an important step towards healing, adjustment, and wellbeing.
I provide psychological support for veterans, current and former Australian Defence Force personnel, reservists, and defence families experiencing a range of concerns, including:
Trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and depression
Stress and burnout
Moral injury
Grief and loss
Relationship and family difficulties
Anger and irritability
Sleep difficulties
Adjustment to civilian life
Identity and life transitions
A Trauma-Informed Approach
Many veterans have experienced events that continue to affect their wellbeing long after service has ended. Trauma can impact how we think, feel, relate to others, and experience the world around us.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual experiences and goals. I draw on evidence-based therapies including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and other trauma-focused approaches to support recovery from trauma and PTSD.
Experience Working with Veterans
During my psychology training, I completed a placement within the Austin Health PTSD Program, where I worked with military personnel and veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress and related difficulties.
Throughout my career, I have also worked extensively with individuals who have experienced trauma, high-stress occupational environments, humanitarian crises, grief, loss, and significant life transitions. This experience has shaped my understanding of the complex ways that trauma can affect individuals, relationships, and wellbeing over time.
DVA Clients
I welcome referrals from eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients.
If you have a valid DVA referral, your psychological treatment may be funded through DVA. Please contact me if you would like to discuss eligibility or the referral process.
Appointments
Appointments are available in person from my consulting rooms in Frankston, or Somerville, as well as via telehealth across Australia.
If you would like to learn more or discuss whether I may be the right fit for your needs, please feel welcome to get in touch.
